WHAT WE BELIEVE

Illness is a lived experience. It is something someone has or is affected by, not a defining characteristic of an individual’s personality, heart or soul. The effects of illness are ubiquitous. Like ripples in a river eventually reaching the ocean, they roll through a person’s life, touching all aspects. These undulations create furrows through which discovery, creation and understanding can emerge. It is these formations that move us most. The discoveries that lead to something greater. The creations that leave imprints on the collective consciousness. The understanding that helps us feel our foundational bond. Illness can make our humanness all the more present, guiding us toward a deeper knowing. Our hope is that these stories will serve as a tether to the meaningful nexus we all share.
