Erin Catherine Hunter is a writer, disability rights activist, memoir consultant, and writing workshop facilitator. She uses her deep compassion and understanding of chronic illness to supportively guide creatives affected by chronic illness through the barriers blocking their artistic processes. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she recognizes each illness as its own unique, valid, and poignant odyssey. Pilgrimages that have the capacity to significantly alter, in a positive way, our understanding of the human condition. Her own illness trek began when she started having double vision at age 19. For the next 16 years she dealt with a myriad of new and worsening symptoms, mis-diagnosis and mis-prescribed treatments, hospitalizations and countless appointments and tests. Traversing a rocky mountain path of uncertainty, fear and faith, she walked on, sometimes in the complete dark of what was happening to her body and mind. In 2015, finally a proper diagnosis and a ray of light on the path forward! She wishes to use her own trek as an escort along contributors’ paths, shining light on the veritable climb up their own rocky mountain - to a peak of truth, turmoil, vulnerability, triumph and, above all, hope.
